The nature of things, from the metaphysical to
the subjective states of being in the world, is tackled here from different
points of view in notes and poems written and published mainly between
1950 and 2000, though later work continues to be added. Newcomers

It
seems a big claim to make, that anything like a true model of what
everything is about can be had from the work of any single author.
But think. All we can hope to hold in our heads is a bundle of
analogies to help us describe what is out there and in here. Our
concepts and pictures
are derived from our own thinking, which is heavily influenced by
the opinions of others, of our own tribe, if you like. Anyone who
is a reader must admit that especially weighty among influences are
books. This hypertext is a kind of book. The world view
suggested is of necessity a fragmented and biased one. It is not
truer than other models; it is not less true either. It will alter
you, if only by reinforcing your prejudices by the force of its own. Your
time will not be
wasted.
