Note on Kulta

It’s hard to write elegies without being sentimental.  Our dog, the only house pet we’ve had, gerbils excluded, was a Cairn Terrier with a pedigree certificate but a suspiciously foxy face.  The name Kulta is Finnish for Darling.  Hound dog: familiar from the Elvis Presley song, it means ‘mongrel’ or one who hangs around, not wanted.  She: Lise, of course.
