macabre quatrain in the spirit of Martial, who is said to have depicted
a time resembling our own. To
be added to the Epigrammata when I come to do my Collected
Poems. It seems to be
about a sadist and his victim, but who suffers the more here?
Is it a game? Or is
it all about style?
