Note on It Is More a Case

I caught up late and only by accident with the voice and songs of Leonard Cohen (b.1934) when I heard his Everybody Knows on the sound track of the film Exotica (Atom Egoyan, 1994, very atmospheric). This piece of mine is a small tribute in which I emulate Cohen’s ironies and throwaway allusions to love’s deceptions and our parlous times.

I have marked the stressed syllables because song lyrics include any number of unstressed syllables between beats, and it’s not always obvious from a mere reading without music where the main stresses come.
